Verdant Power

Long Island Sound Tidal Energy Project

Building on the RITE Project, Verdant is advancing tidal energy development in Long Island Sound through resource assessment, site characterization, array modeling, and project feasibility.

Developing tidal energy in Long Island Sound

LISTEP is Verdant Power’s proposed tidal-energy development in eastern Long Island Sound near East Marion and Greenport, New York. The project brings together resource assessment, site characterization, array planning, permitting, and grid-integration studies to evaluate a path toward commercial development.

From resource assessment to project feasibility

The preliminary-permit application describes a tidal array concept with up to 30 MW of capacity. A preliminary permit establishes priority for a future license application; it does not authorize construction. Studies are evaluating the resource, array configuration, infrastructure, and economics needed to advance the project.

A separate TEAMER-supported project with 3U Technologies evaluates subsea and terrestrial cable routes, landfall options, and substation integration. It builds on Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s resource assessment and contributes to LISTEP’s wider development decisions.
