Verdant Power and CECEP Sign MOU to Develop Tidal Power in China
Verdant Power has signed an MOU with the China Energy Conservation Environment Protection Group (CECEP) (formerly CECIC), China’s leading renewable energy company, to develop tidal power projects in China. The MOU is the first of its kind between China and the U.S. involving marine and hydrokinetic power projects.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman were on hand to witness the signing. The MOU will provide a framework for collaboration on siting and operating Verdant Power tidal and river power systems in China and on an international scale. More

RITE Project Receives NYSERDA Award
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has announced awards of $11.3 million to support innovative NY-based energy projects, including the RITE Project. The award will support the first phase of installation under the RITE Project build-out, a 30-turbine, 1 MW field that is presently the subject of a hydrokinetic pilot project license application to FERC.

NYSERDA has been a long-standing partner in the development of the RITE Project, having previously supported system R&D, project environmental monitoring and commercialization efforts. More

Verdant Power has achieved a major milestone by completing the RITE Project’s Phase 2 Demonstration (East River; New York, NY).

Through this world-first initiative, Verdant Power successfully demonstrated the Free Flow System as an efficient source of renewable energy, delivering electricity generated from the tides of the East River to New York businesses.More

U.S. DOE Selects Verdant Power Under Advanced Water Power Projects Solicitation
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced Verdant Power as one of the 14 projects selected under its competitive solicitation for Advanced Water Power Projects. Verdant Power will design, analyze, develop for manufacture, fabricate and thoroughly test an improved turbine blade design structure to allow for larger, higher-power and more cost-effective tidal power turbines.
