			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><b>Verdant Power and CECEP Sign MOU to Develop Tidal Power in China</b><br />
Verdant Power has signed an MOU with the <a href="http://www.cecic.cn/p339.aspx" target="_blank">China Energy Conservation Environment Protection Group (CECEP)</a> (formerly CECIC), China’s leading renewable energy company, to develop tidal power projects in China.  The MOU is the first of its kind between China and the U.S. involving marine and hydrokinetic power projects. </p>
<p>U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman were on hand to witness the signing. The New York State Energy Research and Development  Authority (NYSERDA) has announced awards of $11.3 million to support innovative NY-based energy projects, including the RITE Project.  The award will support the first phase of installation under the RITE Project build-out,  a 30-turbine, 1 MW field that is presently the subject of a hydrokinetic pilot project license application to FERC.</p>
